Story
Thanks for taking the time to read about My Journey to The Wall.
My Dad and I had talked a lot about walking along Hadrian's Wall, in the north of England, and it had been on his 'bucket list' of things to do before he died. Devastatingly he passed away from complications due to pancreatic cancer in March of this year, never able to walk the wall. Dad really was one of those larger than life characters and his happiness, kindness and love is greatly missed by everyone who knew him. My life is so much poorer without him in it.
So seeking to honour my Dad and raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK I am running a series of 8 races starting in August 2018 and ending with Rat Race's The Wall Ultra in June 2019, a 69 mile race from Carlisle to Newcastle.
Each year around 10,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's the fifth most common cause of cancer death, causing five percent of all cancer deaths each year. Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – just 3% of those diagnosed survive for five years. It is also the only cancer that has seen no improvement in this figure over the last 40 years.
Pancreatic Cancer Uk are trying to change that. With your support we can help fund innovative research, campaign for change and give support to those suffering from this cancer.
Thank you for reading my story and I hope you will consider giving even a few pounds to support me and Pancreatic Cancer UK.
