Story
Some of you may remember us raising funds for the Jacob Pritchard Webb Recovery Fund. This fund was set up to help a close friend of mine who was left paralysed following a fall in Auteuil in June of last year and all the money raised in both the silent auction and the GoFundMe page went to purchasing essential equipment that Jake now relies on in his daily life, including a wheelchair and home lift. Following his accident Jake received and continues to receive much needed support from some amazing charitable organisations and I have been raking my brain on ways to raise money to give back to some of them. With that in mind, I have decided to set myself a personal challenge (whilst also inviting people to join me if they would like too) and all to raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund (https://injuredjockeys.co.uk/). The IJF have honestly been amazing and have made a very stressful and scary time, less so for both Jake and his family. Seeing the work they do first hand has made to appreciate how lucky we are as a sport to have them and I've been inspired. SO...I'm going to run 100k throughout April! For those of you that don't know me, I'm not a massive runner and I'm no fitness buff, so this is going to be tough. I've only recently started to run 5k regularly and I certainly don't run everyday, but with this challenge I'm going to pretty much have to besides a few rest days here and there. 😬 Personally, I'm really looking forward to the challenge, so roll on April 1st! Every penny raised will go straight to the IJF to support those who need it, just like Jake did last year and continues too. I'll be linking up my JustGiving page with the Strava app, so people can check in on my progress! Fancy joining me?! Perhaps you have your own amazing story of the IJF's tremendous work, or are just a general supporter and would also like to take part in the challenge too? I would like to invite anyone who would like to, to join me, let’s see how many lots of 100k’s we can run (or walk) in April for the IJF. I can send you the link to join ‘The IJF's 100k Crew’ and that way we can raise money separately and then come to a grand total together! 🤩 If you would like to take part, drop me an email and I will send you all the details you need. If you would rather just rather cheer on the team and perhaps donate, please see the link below. Thank you in advance for all your support! LETS DO THIS! 🏃🏻♀️ Best wishes, Alice Cosgrove Jake's 100k Crew - Team Captain
