On August 8th, 2023, my intuition led me to the hospital, sensing something wasn’t right. This visit led to the discovery of a tumour in my colon aptly named Colleen, for which had spread to Larry, the Liver. This marked the beginning of my battle with stage 4 bowel cancer.
Despite undergoing five cycles of chemotherapy, the journey continues with new treatments aimed at a resilient new mutant tumour, my ‘ninja turtle.’ 🐢
This journey unveiled a surprising truth: Bowel cancer, despite being a common adversary in the UK, lacks widespread awareness. It’s a cancer that doesn’t confine itself to any age group, yet screening often starts post-55. My experience is a reminder that listening to our body’s signals is crucial.
In light of this, I’m embarking on a mission to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK. My goal is not just to support research and treatment but also to boost awareness about this disease. By doing so, we can encourage early detection and increase the chances of successful treatment for many.
I invite you all to join me in this cause, to spread the word and support a future where bowel cancer is detected early and treated effectively. Your support means the world to me and to many others who are fighting this battle.
