The 2.6 Challenge is a simple and fun way for everyone to do their bit to help save the UKs charities.

Story

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society including one which I am heavily involved in.

I was originally due to run the London marathon this year, but due to health reasons had to defer.

Today (15th April) I had an email from London Marathon encouraging all runners to do something involving the numbers 2.6 to contribute to the massive £4billion shortfall charities now face due to cancellation of the marathon.

I have decided to row the equivalent (on a machine) to raise some much needed support for Pact, a charity who I am fortunate enough to work for.

This means I have approx 9 days (from writing this) to get ready to row a full marathon having never rowed more than 5km before!

All donations will help Pact continue to run services which are essential to keep families of prisoners in contact, often the hidden victims, and for children to keep up spirits about being reunited with their parents and other loved ones.

I plan to live stream the row on Facebook so people can keep in touch and keep me going! I will post a link closer to the time!

Thanks, and stay safe.
