Story
Hi everyone!
I am taking on the 2.6 Challenge, which was created to help UK charities like St Oswald's Hospice who will lose out on vital fundraising from mass events this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This national campaign asks people of all ages to become 'home heroes' and have fun and raise money on this occasion for St Oswald's Hospice. The 2.6 Challenge hopes that 2.6 million people take part and each raise just £26! They are aiming to achieve this by the end of April 2020!
My initial challenge was with the help of my friend and PT Jonny Oliver from Dauntless Fitness. We set up a Live workout on Zoom on Sunday 26th April 2020 at 10:00am. We rounding up friends and had over 26 people join in the workout taking part in a whopping 26 exercises for a total of 26 minutes. Friends joined with cameras or just online and took part from the comfort of their own homes - A virtual workout!
My ask was that each of my friends taking part donated their entry to the online workout onto this page, at the minimum of £2.60 or whatever they could afford & each share this page to and encourage their friends to sponsor them, with the hope of raising just £26.00 per person and supporting the profile of St Oswald’s Hospice.
The challenge launched on Sunday 26th April, the day the London Marathon was due to take place and runs until 6th May. Due to the postponement of the event it means a loss of income to charities like St Oswald's Hospice but due to this brilliant campaign it's still a great way we can support this brilliant charity by doing something inventive themed around the number 2, 6 or 2.6 or sponsoring someone who is taking on a challenge. If you feel inspired to take on a challenge or do your own thing please do, and I can help support you too!
Friends, Because you’ve been so supportive & kind I am now going to continue this 2.6 challenge by taking part in a series of 26 events until 6th May..Please join me if you are able to by messaging directly on Facebook or Instagram and if you can't join but you are able to sponsor us all, every penny raise will go towards supporting St Oswald's patients and families and towards the staff who are supporting their NHS colleagues through this incredibly difficult time, they're continuing to provide care and love to their patients and families.
By sponsoring us we can continue to help fund vital PPE needed to keep the staff safe and to ensure our patients are looked after with the upmost care possible.
Thank you
Em xx
