Story
The 2.6 challenge is a new campaign which has been launched to save the UK's charities. The Coronavirus Pandemic is causing acute challenges for charities due to the loss of income from fundraising events, at a time when many charity's services have never been needed more. I want to help tackle this and support the Fragile X Society.
The Fragile X Society supports those with Fragile X: a family of inherited genetic conditions. Many in the Fragile X community are feeling the effects of the pandemic particularly acutely, due to the lack of essential services and supports. In addition, for people with Fragile X Syndrome (the most common inherited cause of learning disability) the change of routine is causing particular challenges and high anxiety. My colleagues are working hard to respond to question's from those affected and provide essential support.
I know the importance of this specialist service and want to help it to be able to continue through this pandemic and beyond. If you are able to do so, I would really appreciate your help.
Starting on Sunday 26th April (on what would have been the 40th London Marathon, the world's largest fundraising event), I will begin a series of daily challenges for 26 days, all themed around the numbers 2.6 and 26. You can follow my progress and updates here!
Day 1: run 2.6 miles
Day 2: 26 backwards ascensions of the stairs
Days 3 & 4: 2.6 mile runs
