Story
My mum Joyce was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 6 years ago. She died of Covid on the 8th May 2020 aged 89.We were unable to hold a proper funeral and as a result were not able to have a collection in her memory which we would have donated to the Alzheimer's Society. My mum was a brave, compassionate lady who was extremely grateful for the care and support she received right until the end but Alzheimer's is a horrible disease which strips you of who you are and I wanted to do my bit to raise awareness of it. Raising money is the least I can do to help out such a fantastic cause and it is one which will always remain close to my heart.
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. This year Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Let's take on dementia together!
