Story
On 13th April 2018, I lost my beautiful, gentle, caring and loving Granny, Dympna Lennon to dementia.
I felt part of me died that day however I realised since that date, my lovely Granny would want me to get out there and make the most of life.
Dympna loved her walks where she lived along the County Down coast - in fact she probably clocked up more miles walking to the moon and back ten times over in her lifetime.
When I learnt about the Alzheimer's Society Dementia Memory Walk, I could not think of something more fitting to remember Dympna's life (and start catching up on all the walking miles she clocked up).
I think about her everyday but I'm grateful for all the memories I shared with her for 32 years.
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes.
This September and October Memory Walks will be taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to raise money for a world without dementia.
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Let's take on dementia together. Please dig deep and help us walk for a world without dementia.
