This year thousands of people will walk united, against dementia. We aim, with your help, to raise as much money as possible to help anyone affected by dementia.
Story
This is the first time I've taken part in a Memory Walk. I'm doing this for my 91 year old mum Pat, who lives with mixed dementia, which is a combination of alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. It's a living nightmare for her personally, and also for those who love her, watching her deteriorate at this twilight time of her life, with no cure or medical treatment to alleviate the symptoms. She has no choice about the way she lives her life anymore and has to rely on professional and family care and support to cope with every day tasks and to keep her safe, all things most of us take for granted.
I would like to raise £250, as does my good friend Christiane, who has a similar story, so that we can help in a small way through this fundraising opportunity to increase awareness, understand, tackle and eradicate this cruel disease.
Around 225,000 people develop dementia every year, that's the equivalent to one person every three minutes. In the average time it takes a walker to complete their Memory Walk, 20 people will develop dementia in the UK.
If you feel able to donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to Alzheimer's Society. So it's the most efficient way to raise money, saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Let's take on dementia together. Please help us walk for a world without dementia. Thank you, Angela.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
