Story
Hi. Some of you will know I work for an amazing charity called Live Music Now. We believe in the power of exceptional live music to change lives, bringing a sense of belonging, self worth, healing and boosting mental and emotional health and well being. It’s an incredible thing to be a part of.
St. Margaret’s Hospice in Somerset delivers high quality, responsive and compassionate care to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness.
We would like to raise funds to support LMN in the South West deliver a year long monthly live music residency with outstanding, trained early career professional musicians at St Margaret’s Yeovil in memory of a lovely lady, Elizabeth Parker who benefited from their care and recently passed away.
Liz was Mum to our dear friend Nick (and Chris, Ant and Ali and dear wife to Norman), and whilst she was at the hospice we managed to arrange two visits from LMN musicians to perform for her and other residents. Music has always been a huge part of the Parker families lives, so it seemed a fitting way to remember her and support the family at this difficult time. The residency also would be a place the family could visit if they wanted to over the next year to help with their own memories and journey of grief.
It’s always hard to know how to help those we care about when they lose someone they love. As we are all music lovers ourselves this seemed like the most appropriate way to best show support.
Please donate what you can. A list of all donors will be provided to the family once we have raised enough and can let them know of our gift. Whilst my work for LMN is in Wales I will also help the SW LMN branch raise match funding from trusts to support this residency and make another happen at Yeovil Hospital if at all possible, making any money you donate here go as far as it can for as long as it can.
UPDATE: Nick has also asked if we can share the musical love in memory of another friend who recently passed away Richard Ashford-Martin and was a big music lover, and was looked after at St Giles Hospice in Lichfield, West Midlands. We have another branch there as well so any extra raised from this will support similar work there in his memory too.
Thanks for caring and making a difference xxx
