Story

Next month I will be visiting Islamic Relief funded projects as well as challenging myself to trek to Nanga Parbat base camp and taking on some other challenging activities inshallah. Carrying on from last year to raise awareness and funds to aid those that were affected and still affected to this day from the floods that took place in Pakistan.

As I prepare to embark on this trip, the opportunity for which I am grateful for, I am reaching out to you for help with rebuilding homes for families who lost everything in 2022's devastating floods. The decline in media coverage does not accurately reflect the continued disruption to everyday life. Millions of people were affected and, unfortunately, whole communities lost everything, including their homes, as well as vital public infrastructure.

Your donations will help families affected by providing a home to both protect them from the elements and rebuild their lives. The homes will include a living space, a kitchen (equipped with a stove), and a bathroom. They will be built with inclusion measures in mind to support the elderly and persons with disabilities, such as widened doors, a ramp, and a commode chair in the bathroom.

Your support could be the difference between life and death for many who have already endured so much.

Islamic Relief, a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), has been working in Pakistan since 1992, and were one of the first aid agencies to respond to initial flooding.

Their teams have been working tirelessly since the initial floods, and are on the ground right now, working with local communities to establish how best to support affected families.

Islamic Relief Pakistan has already supported more than 800,000 people in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.

The Prophet, upon be peace, said: “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

So please support by donating whatever you can spare, share the link and keep these families in your prayers. Let’s all try to help make a small but positive difference. 💙

Also can I request that you keep all those suffering around the world in your prayers and donate to causes that can support them especially our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Sudan, Afghanistan, Yemen, East Africa and even our local communities in the UK.

Further info:

In the summer of 2022, floods devastated Pakistan, leaving one-third of the country underwater and taking the lives of over 1,700 people including 640 children.

Over 33 million people were affected by the flooding caused as a result of climate change, as families lost their homes, livelihoods and loved ones. There was significant damage to crops that were wiped out entirely. More than 2 million homes were damaged or destroyed, and over 800,000 livestock perished.

Reconstruction costs in the aftermath of these disasters have placed additional stress on Pakistan’s fragile economy and the daily lives of local families.

Islamic Relief continues to support people across Pakistan to recover from the floods, such as helping families to repair and rebuild homes, rehabilitating water systems, providing cash grants and setting up psychosocial support facilities.
