Story
Hi I’m Murray, in 2020 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, subsequently had two surgeries to remove it but unfortunately received a diagnosis that I have a brain cancer. Cavendish Cancer Care provided immediate emotional support to my family. I wanted to do something to give back to Cavendish so I decided to run the Sheffield Half Marathon with my wife Jo and daughter Isabel running the Sheffield 10k. We are being joined by our fantastic friends who have come together to show appreciation of Cavendish by running with us on the 26th September in the hope that we raise lots of money for this amazing local charity.
Cavendish Cancer Care is an independent Sheffield charity providing vital care and support to both cancer patients their families and friends including a specialist service for children affected by cancer:- Support, Counselling and Complementary Therapies.- Specialist services for Children and Young people.- Courses and classes to introduce simple, effective techniques to help people feel calmer, more relaxed and in control. Since March 2020, they transferred many of these services to telephone and video links to ensure they were there for anyone who needed them and have recently started a phased reopening of their face to face services.
We’ll be pounding the streets between now and then and would really appreciate some motivation with your donations.
Cavendish do amazing work supporting everyone who turn to them on a free of charge basis, but can only do this because of the generosity of the local community. They receive very little government funding just enough to keep their doors open for two weeks each year and I want to do my bit to help them provide their vital services.
These events haven't been able to take place since 2019, so any donations you can make will be really appreciated by us and Cavendish Cancer Care.
Thank you for your donation, we are thrilled to have your support!
Murray, Jo and all the team running.
