Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Where to start? You may have read my blog (FrenchYummyMummy.com) and already know that I am a French woman living in London.
I sponsor a child, Suresh, with Action Aid, and I love their hands-on, pragmatic approach. We have been in contact for more than four years, and I wanted to do something bigger than a few tweets and posts for once. So here's the challenge...
I started running again about a year ago. The thing is, I don't really like running 5k or 10k. I like really, really long distances. I tend not to talk about it because I am sick and tired of being told that I am mad, or depressed, or in the middle of my very own midlife crisis, or that my joints will break...
So here it is: I am an ultra runner. Are you still reading? Yes, I will be running 100k for Action Aid in September. Yes, I am looking forward to it. Yes, I have already run marathons and ultra marathons. That's just me.
What will the money raised be used for? Well, to cut a long story short, it is all about empowering women in India's rural areas. It's about making them financially independent. It's about giving them a future.
With your support, we can empower up to 9,250 women to pursue paid work and play a greater role outside of their family home. This project will work with local fisherwomen, training them in fish processing and harvesting, as well as offering business development, marketing and accountancy training to support their work.
Women’s unpaid care responsibilities will be integral to the project, ensuring childcare and other household chores are recognised and reduced.
