We have entered the Race the Sun Offa's Dyke Challenge on June 15th, which involves cycling 22km through the Gospel Pass, Wales' highest road, hiking 22km along Offa's Dyke and then canoeing down the River Wye. The ride may not sound far, but we have to climb over 480m, so it is far from trivial. We're told we will have very tired legs before we start the hike up back up to and along Offa's Dyke. None of us are canoeing experts, so staying out of the water will be a key goal.
We start early in the morning and have to complete the challenge before the sun sets. So we think the term 'challenge' is pretty apt. We are one of handful of all female teams taking part. Sadly we don't qualify for the Golden Oldies award, as Heather and Kathryn are too young, so we will have to go for Best Team Spirit instead! Scroll down to see our training updates and photos.
So why are we doing this? Well, aside from the fact that we thought it might be fun to Race the Sun, the charity that will benefit from our efforts does some pretty amazing work.
