The Macmillan 4x4 Challenge 2011 – 10/100
The 2011 Macmillan 4x4 Challenge will be the tenth run of the Macmillan Challenge in the year that the Macmillan charity celebrates it’s Hundredth Anniversary – hence 10/100.
The 2011 Challenge takes place over four days from Thursday the 3rd to Sunday the 6th March 2011. It will start, as it has for the last few years, at the Britpart factory at Craven Arms, Shropshire and end as usual at the Daresbury Park Hotel, Daresbury, Cheshire. In the nine years it's been run this event has raised over £656,000.00, and in the eight years that we’ve been involved Team 5 have raised nearly £16,000.00.
Once again Mike Stapleton and his co-driver (as yet to be named as David Kent has had to pull out due to work commitments) are taking part in the Macmillan 4x4 Challenge. Last year we raised £2146.78 including Gift Aid, drove 794 miles door to door and came joint 40th overall out of the 78 teams who took part. We drove 392 miles on the event itself – Craven Arms to the Daresbury Park Hotel. The winners (who have won something like 5 times now!) scored 155 points, we achieved 120 points, so I’m fairly happy with our efforts. We could have scored more no doubt, but I do tend to drive too fast in the forests!
The 78 teams who took part in 2010 raised £123,000.00 which I'm sure you'll agree is pretty impressive. That's an average of about £1577.00 per team so we managed to be a bit above average. This year we want to be much better than average and raise more than that figure. SO, please do dig deep and sponsor us on-line for this very worthy cause.
You can also check out: www.mac4x4.co.uk to see just what is involved in the Macmillan 4x4 Challenge (sadly since a redesign you can no longer see, on the Home page, a shot of Muddy Blue Two – taken in Scotland in 2003 on the very first Challenge we entered).
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now! Give somebody the help and support they need through Macmillan Cancer Support.
We will willingly display advertising on our Challenge vehicle for any Donor.
Many thanks for your continued support, as many of you have sponsored us for each of the eight years we've competed so far. Keep it coming!
