Story
As some of you may or may not know, I have an auto-immune disease called Crohn's. This is where for some unknown reason, my immune system attacks my digestive system which normally only happens when it has to kill bugs and viruses so as you can imagine, it's quite damaging.
I was diagnosed when I was just 12 years old and have had a series of operations and experimental drugs since. There isn't a cure but some treatments work for some and not for others. I went through several different treatment options which unfortunately just weren't working for me and in 2009 I had to have an invasive operation to remove the diseased areas.
As part of the operation and to let my body rest, I had an ileostomy (Google it) for a year and then had further surgery to reverse the original procedure. Fortunately it was a success and I'm currently in remission, wahooo! Although due to the fact that there is currently no cure, unfortunately it's not a matter of if it comes back... But when.
I think it's an important cause so i'm raising money to help support Crohn's and Colitis UK and their mission to raise awareness.
