Fundraising for The Mission To Seafarers
The Mission to Seafarers (MtS) was founded in 1856 as The Mission to Seaman. The Mission now provides help and support to the 1.5 million men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat.
Over 90% of world trade is carried by sea, providing work to 1.89 million seafarers. Day and night for 365 days per year, The Mission to Seafarers (MtS) is on call providing help for seafarers in over 200 ports around the world.
MtS work in over 200 ports in 50 countries caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities, and beliefs, which makes them one of the largest sea port based welfare organisations in the world. Through their global network of chaplains, staff, and volunteers MtS offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in seafarers’ centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.
How are we supporting?
The Mission to Seafarers Adventure Race Japan has garnered incredible support from the shipping industry and we will be racing alongside teams from across maritime.
Funds raised through the Adventure Race Japan will be used to fund MtS ‘Emerging Port Strategy 2022-2026, a more strategic approach to existing and new operations in Asia and globally’.
The challenge is due to take place in May 2023 on the Izu Peninsula, Japan, regarded as an area of outstanding natural beauty and designated as a UNESCO Geopark in 2018.
We are taking part in three challenges, a trail race, paddle boarding along Izu Peninsula, and the fundraising challenge. Help us reach our target to support seafarers now!
As a former seafarer, this charity is close to my heart. Please give now.
