From 16th April to 30th May 2018, current pupil of Charterhouse School, Dmitry Tertychnyy, will be part of an expedition to climb Mount Everest, the world’s highest mountain. If successful, Dmitry will be the youngest Russian and the youngest European to climb the highest summit on each continent – quite remarkably, at the age of 17, he has already climbed the other six! In completing this incredible expedition, Dmitry follows in the footsteps of George Mallory, a former Charterhouse beak who was part of the first three Everest expeditions in the 1920s.
Not content with this remarkable personal challenge, Dmitry will also be climbing in aid of charity. He has chosen to support Global Action Nepal, for which Charterhouse raised over £6,500 in 2016.
Personally, I want to make this adventure special, and that’s why I decided to support GAN with the help of Charterhouse School. GAN is an non-governmental organization which is working to improve access to, and the quality of education for poor and marginalized people in Nepal.
