Story
In May 2019 a casual conversation on break duty between me and two colleagues turned into an incredible opportunity...and enormous personal challenge! We decided we would train and run the Great South Run 2019. We put an open invitation our to all staff and now 15 of us are running! There are huge differences in running experience ranging from zero to significant! At the point of this conversation I had neither the ability or inclination to run at all. We started with a free downloadable couch to 5k app and some of us trained regularly together on the field after school. Building slowly to complete the Southsea Parkrun a few times and more recently to 9 miles, I have grown to love the challenge of doing something I thought for me would be pretty impossible. Nothing is impossible! I'm running in support of Pets As Therapy UK because at school, we have the most beautiful PAT dog Barney who has started to 'work' with us. The PAT charity have supported his owner, a parent of four boys who either have been or still are at Cams Hill in the initial pet assessment for suitability, completion of all necessary training, risk assessments, insurance etc to make our #evenbetterthanaschooldog dream into reality. He is bringing joy into our school and our pupils and staff are so happy that he is the newest and most im-paw-tant member of our amazing Cams Hill School Community. Please sponsor me to help PAT UK to work with lots of others schools/organisations so they too can have this kind of wonderful opportunity. Thanks so much in anticipation.
