Story
On Sunday 14th October 2018, I will be running the Royal Park's Half Marathon in London to raise money for the St Mark's Hospital Foundation. They are world leaders in the research and medical work of bowel disease and anything related!
I have had Crohn's since I was 14, and since 16 I have been personally going to St Mark's Hospital and seen the amazing work they do first hand. They have dedicated research teams specialising in finding new treatment for all the different types of bowel disease, and hopefully one day they can achieve their aim of a future free from bowel disease! Research is mainly funded by donations made by the public.
The two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel disease, Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis effect more than 300,000 people in the UK alone. Bowel disease can be largely a hidden disease, one that people can be embarrassed about causing fear and isolation. Many people with the condition go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. Awareness is the first step to making a change, as it doesn't have to be this way. The research and education that St Mark's do is vital to changing this.
For the past couple months, I have been training to run this marathon to raise as much money as I can towards this great cause. I would be grateful if you could take the time to make a donation!
If anyone has any questions about IBD/Crohn's, I am happy to help to the best of my knowledge!
