Story
It’s my absolute honour and privilege to be running the London Marathon in support of the National Autistic Society (nas.org.uk)
As anyone who knows me will know, I’m a bit of a rubbish runner. I do vaguely enjoy the challenge of a Parkrun, and I occasionally finish near the back of a 10k. I’ve run further but it’s always followed by a ‘never doing that again’.
And I genuinely thought I was done with running any sort of distance.
But I’ve been galvanised by the opportunity to represent the National Autistic Society and promise to try my best to do them proud.
To me, the National Autistic Society is a crucial charity.
Some 1 in 100 people in the UK have autism - and that means every one of us very probably has autistic friends and/or family members.
And yet there is so little support out there. That’s where the National Autistic Society come in - supporting people who need it, and playing a major part in creating a society that works for autistic people.
So what with me putting myself through this ridiculous run (at my age, love handles and everything) and with the National Autistic Society being so amazing, I’m hoping you could spare a little something and help me reach my fundraising target.
I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to actually run the whole 26.2 miles, but I can guarantee every penny will make a difference to a great cause.
Thanks for reading.
