Story
We can't believe it's been a year since Ethan gained his angel wings!
This year, Team Ethan are back - bigger, better and hopefully faster than last year! We are running the Manchester 10k again, just like last year, in memory of the bravest little boy ever...Ethan Collins!
Never forgotten xxx
Ethan Stuart Collins was born on the 16th December 2007 in St Mary's hospital Manchester, he spent most of his life in Booth Hall Children's Hospital waiting for a liver and bowel transplant that he desperately needed. Ethan was born with gastroschisis but had major complications that meant he lost most of his bowel. However, the medication they gave him to control his bowels then caused him to have liver failure.
Ethan's story was told and he was in many newspapers and on TV to raise awareness of the need for organ donors. His facebook page still has over 53,000 members and we thank everyone for their continued support!
On 31 March 2009, Ethan got his 'call' that a donor had been found and he was transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital where, on 1st April 2009, he underwent an 8 hour operation to transplant his new organs.
We will never find enough words to describe how eternally grateful we were, and always will be, to the family, that despite their own personal tragedy and grief, had agreed to offer their child's organs for donation and gave Ethan a chance at life.
Sadly for Ethan, his call came too late and his body was too weak and too tired to fight any longer.
Ethan 'fell asleep' in his mummy's arms on 1st May 2009 - his daddy and grand-parents were with him too.
Please take a minute to sign up to the organ donor register to give others the gift of life. The more people on the register, the more likely that if you are in the position where you are waiting for that 'call', it will come in time!

We are raising money for LIVE LIFE THEN GIVE LIFE, a charity who work to raise awareness of organ donation with the aim of increasing the numbers of transplants carried out.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts x
