This is a short story about why our charity is so valuable to us. It is from Grace, our housemasters daughter.
Grace’s story.
In 2011 at 6 months Grace broke her femur bouncing on her mother’s lap. Grace was born with dysplasia of the hips which is a common early symptom. On August the 1st 2012 she suffered from a spiral fracture of the tibia when she fell at home and was subsequently diagnosed with type 1 osteogenesis imperfecta.
2014 was a very bad year, in April she broke both her ulna and radius when she fell off a swing. In August she broke her tibia when she slipped while playing outdoors. She was out of plaster for only a few weeks before falling in the playground at school and suffering another fracture of the right tibia.
All in all Grace had been in plaster for more than half of her life at just 5 years old. Since then she has been getting treatment from the specialist department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and has remained free from any further breaks.
Please donate as much as you can to the Children’s hospital to make Grace and other children’s life better.
