Story
I'm running two marathons! And I could use your support in doing so.
I fell in love with running in 2022. I started to ramp up my mileage and participate in small races and, in early 2023, I decided to register for my first half marathon. While training for it, I also signed up for my first full marathon... and, while training for that, I signed up for my second full marathon!
Across both, I am fundraising for the Jesuit Refugee Service, for which my dad, Kevin Alexander, is a volunteer. It's a non-profit providing resources and advocacy for refugees, including legal support, immigration counsel, housing, and more.
I completed the first of the two marathons — the 2023 BMW Dallas Marathon! — in December 2023. I struggled with injury and ended up with a slightly disappointing time of 4:59:51. Nonetheless, I ended up running 825.95 miles in 2023 — 334.21 miles more than 2022!
My second marathon is the 2024 TCS London Marathon on April 21, 2024, for which I will be officially running for JRS. And, this time, I'll be aiming for a time closer to 4:00.
I'm aiming to raise £2,000/$2,500 on JRS' behalf. I ran 465 miles in training for Dallas. And I'm now expecting to run over 600 miles for London.
Put differently, across both training blocks, I will run over 1,000 miles. So you could think of this as £2/$2.5 per mile. (Or you could just think of it as supporting a good cause, particularly in context of all that's going on in the world!)
If you're willing to support — or if you'd just like to follow along with the journey — you can do so on this page. I have been doing my best to provide sparing updates with my training progress, intermediary races, and so on.
Any support — whether emotional or monetary — would be appreciated!
And, of course, you can learn more about JRS below or at jrsuk.net.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
