We use the power of sport to enhance the lives of disabled people

Story

In the early hours of Saturday 17th June 2022, 26 of us will set off to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in either 24 or 48 hours, with the aim of raising at least £3,064 for Disability Sports Coach – an incredible charity that provides fantastic sport and physical activity opportunities for disabled people.

The National Three Peaks Challenge is a gruelling task that involves climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis – 1,345m), England (Scafell Pike – 978m), and Wales (Snowdon – 1,085m). The total distance walked is 37km with an ascent of 3,064m; our target of £3,064 will mean we raise £1 for every meter we ascend. This will make a huge difference to Disability Sports Coach and those lives are enriched through the charity’s work. To put it into context:

  • £10 pays for two people to receive a free activity guide full of resources to support physical and mental health
  • £20 pays for an inclusive online activity class so people can keep active and connected with friends
  • £40 pays for a specialist coach to run an inclusive sports session for disabled people in the local community

About the charity

We use the power of sport to enhance the lives of disabled people. Disabled people are twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people. Through our inclusive clubs, coaching sessions in schools and expert-led training, we break down barriers to sport for 5,000 disabled people each year.
