Story
Beautiful people,
We (brother duo Nyaika and Mpuuga) are going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of the year (at least we will try)!!!
Why ?
It's simple really, it's time we got physically involved in our support for Buhinga Primary School. The purpose of our climb is to raise funds to improve conditions for the 1800 children who attend Buhinga in Fort Portal, Uganda.
Background
Universal Chance started raising money for Buhinga in 2012 to rebuild the school and make it a sustainable and safe learning environment going forward. The charity has raised over £50,000 so far, which has led to the extensive repair and renovation of four classrooms – new floor tiles and panels to fix a collapsed ceiling, new windows and a fresh coat of paint. New toilet blocks have also been built as they were previously in a bad state. To know more about has been achieved to date visit http://www.universalchance.org.
Target ?
We aim to raise £5,000 which will contribute to the refurbishment of the main school building - new roof, windows and doors. It will also pay for the construction of more water tanks to collect and recycle rain water. A large proportion of an already tight budget is spent on providing potable water.
When?
We'll start our ascent in the early hours of 27, December 2017. We are taking the Machame route for a 5-day climb with a group of other hikers organised by Action Challenge.
