Story
Thank you very much for visiting our page. I'm Ali and a few of us at work are attempting to get fit and complete the Great Scottish Run 10k on October 6. We're doing it to set ourselves a new challenge (I have never done anything like this before!) and train together to raise money for a fantastic charity - SAMH. The money will go into a fund set up in memory of my schoolfriend Pam Tate (nee Thomson) to help train people in suicide awareness and prevention. Pam was a warm, intelligent, funny and generous person - always raising money for other good causes. Many people were not aware that she had suffered from mental health issues - an all too common situation. Despite wonderful support from people around her, the world lost Pam on September 13 2009. Since then, her friends and family have endeavoured to raise money in her memory to assist SAMH in their work on suicide awareness, prevention and support, and help champion awareness of and support for mental health issues in Scotland in general.
While this cause is obviously very close to my heart, unfortunately so many people will at some point in their life experience depression or mental health issues - either personally or through the experience of a friend, relative or colleague. Please help us to help SAMH.
Our dream team currently consists of Scott Neil and Hugh Wallace and I but we're still actively recruiting our museum colleagues. I'll get the lads to add their own bits to this and we'll get some pictures and updates added soon. Please help us raise as much money as possible - it makes a massive difference.
