Story
In the first few days of 2020, I lost my Dad, after a long battle with cancer. My dad was truly one of a kind, born in South Shields, there aren't many countries he didn't visit, or even live in, and everywhere he went, he left a lasting impact. During his final weeks and months, I got to build up relationships with his old friends from Biddick Hall, to China, and everywhere in between. None of it would have been possible without St Benedicts hospice allowing a place for close friends and family to allow us to visit, and even stay with my Dad, throughout his final weeks.
I can't underestimate how much this meant to me, and what it meant to my Dad. I owe a great deal of debt to the hospice, and I'd like to do my bit to help them recover from the impact of Covid-19, so other families can benefit from their wonderful support.
I'd hope to have taken on many events in 2020, however, like everybody, had Covid-19 get in the way. So this year, as things start to reopen, I'm challenging myself to the following events, with hopefully more to come;
***DUE TO COVID-19 SEVERAL EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED/POSTPONED - EVENTS POSTPONED TO 2022 AS FOLLOWS***
2021 dyed hair
Saturday 30th July 2022 - Tough Mudder 15k
Sunday 11th September 2022 - Great North Run Half Marathon
Thursday 24th November 2022 - Dallas Turkey Trot
I am so, so grateful to the hospice to allow me to spend time with my Dad in his final moments, and any donation you can make to help others would be greatly appreciated.
