Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Royal Marines Charity exists to help the entire Royal Marines family. Offering a range of services to both serving Marines, veterans, and their families.
We - myself and Rory Aitken - established this challenge as it seemed a good idea at the time, not realising that we were mapping out the hardest iron distance triathlon course in the world. I face a 2.4 mile sea swim, then a 180km bike section with 2,477M elevation (sea level to the summit of Ben Nevis twice), and then a marathon with 970M elevation (sea level to the top of Scafell Pike). The time limit for the whole challenge is 18 hours.
It takes place in South Devon, because it is here that the Royal Marines spring from, the home of the Commando Training Centre. I will be supported en route by friends, family, and the incomparable Jon White - a triple amputee veteran who epitomises the iron spirit at the heart of this challenge, and the fortitude of the people for whom we are raising the funds.
It'll be massively emotional, but a great day - and hopefully this old geezer can get round! Everything we raise goes to the charity, so each penny you donate helps someone from the Royal Marines Family.
Thanks so much! Hoofing.
