I am doing this walk to help the Alzheimers society to raise more money to research ways in which the disease can be better understood, treated and cured.

My beautiful, wonderful Gran, Edna Shanks was inflicted with this terrible illness and by the time she left us she was nothing like the Gran I knew and loved. My Great Gran (Edna's mum) also suffered with Alzheimers and my gran was so terrified of having it - it really was her worst nightmare - and it came true.

To see someone you love that much deteriorate in such a way is pure hell. And this is going to happen to more and more of us. The more money that can be raised for research into Alzheimers the better.
