Story
It was an amzing day and this is a brief report (that some of you have already received!!)
I woke up at 6 in the morning to catch tube and train to go to the red start at part. When I got to to catch the FREE train I was just amazed at the number of people who were going exactly where I was!
I felt very energetic and I thought that my target time of 4:40 was within reach. I set off with other 35,000 people but I run it on my own. I passed by all sorts of people-things: a doctor-who-kind-of-robot, a many rhinos, and fruits!
Everything was going perfect up until mile 9. I felt strong and I loved been cheered by unknown people along the course: I felt like a celebrity! There were pubs that had organised live music for the runners, there was even ELVIS the king singing for us.
At mile 9 my tummy started to give me serious problems and for this reason I could not enjoy completely the atmosphere on and that was really a pity, since there was serious support there!! It was great, though, to see my friends Bruno and Steve at the end of the bridge, shouting my name. I don’t how I managed to hear them and spot them but I did! I had to stop for the loo 3 times between mile 9 and mile 20 and at mile 17 I manage to take some Imodium. I was really upset about the whole thing!
When my tummy felt better it was mile 20 and my leg went dead. They hurt soooo much and I walked/ran from mile 20 to 25. When I saw the 25 mile mark I was determined to run until the end: I manage to sprint (well, it felt like a sprint anyway!!! see my picture here!) for the last 200m and I finished in 5:26:55 (I know...well, you can say that all my training went ….er…..down the toilet…literally J))!!
I was so glad to cross that line, even though I didn’t manage to spot Mauro who had been waiting for hours (of course) at 800m from the finish!!! I almost burst into tears at the end but it was FANTASTIC to get my MEDAL!!! and YES, it still hurts BUT I will do it again!!
I would like to thank everyone who have sponsored and supported me in these months of training!!! You've all been great!!!If you haven't sponsored me but you wish to do so, there is still time until the end of May.
