Story
Bless you for your kind support and best wishes in my London Marathon attempt this year
This was my fifth London marathon and during that time I have raised several thousand pounds for various charities. This year’s charity was somewhat special at it was obviously very close to my heart
Despite rumours to the contrary (and a new pacemaker in tow) there are times when even I have to admit defeat! After completing over half of the London marathon in 2 hours, in astonishing heat (which was what finally got me: a terrible case of dehydration!) I decided to let my heart rule my head for once and bail out gracefully (after being over taken by the carrot I knew it was going to be a real struggle!)
Having made it over Tower Bridge and having what I thought was a reasonable run so far, it went horribly wrong and I crumpled as we bit into the East End stretch. There was no real choice, which made it an easy decision at the time
Although there is now a sense of disappointment, I don't feel too bad about it, ‘discretion is sometimes the better part of valour!’ ….and as my poor supportive husband John, has had to remind me even the elite runners some days have to drop out!
Thank you once again for your generous support
I assure you it won’t keep me down for long and I will be back pounding those streets once again as soon as I feel up to it
Much love
Mon x
