Story
After being in the Junior League for nearly 15 years, I've joined up in my new residence in London!
Like back home in the US, poverty is ever present and I'm doing my bit (that's British for "part") to raise awareness and financial support for the efforts of JL London to combat this problem. The scope is different but a staggering 28% of Londoners live below the poverty line.
So, I am participating in the 2020 Little Black Dress Initiative. As part of the campaign, I will be wearing the same black outfit (albeit sweats) for five consecutive days and posting it to social media. The idea is to illustrate the effects poverty can have on an individual's access to resources, confidence and professional opportunities and to raise funds for organizations that combat poverty in London. The Little Black Dress Initiative is an annual, week-long, social-media driven advocacy event organized by the Junior League of London. Since its inception in 2014, the Initiative has raised over $175,000. The positive impact of this global poverty initiative is a testament to the Junior League's mission to promote volunteer service, develop the potential of women and improve our community through the effective action and leadership of volunteers. Please support me in my fundraising efforts!
Friends far and near, please help me in my new Junior League to raise funds for our cause.
Thanks in advance!
