In September 2022 my team member asked me if i wanted to join her on an endurance challenge called Everest in the Alps, I was horrified but agreed.

The goal is simple: to ascend on skis the height of Mount Everest over the course of +3 days It’s a gruelling event taking place in Verbier in the Swiss Alps; which involves approximately 32 hours of uphill ski touring and only 3 hours of downhill, with up to a total of 20 individual ascents. Each day I will climb between 2,000m – 2,500m to reach the overall target of 8,848m. The average amount of time out on the snow is 8 hours a day, but it can far longer – however long it takes to keep on track. At altitudes of up to 3,500m, I will burn through a daily average of 10,000 calories – the equivalent of running three back-to-back marathons. Preparation for the event takes months. I have joined a team of 5 maniacs to tackle this challenge next month, this will be  the last year the Everest in the Alps will take place. 

I have chose to raise money for the Place2Be, a children's mental health charity that provide a fantastic service within schools that can change a child's life.

One in six children and young people now have a diagnosable mental health issue. That’s five children in every classroom with a condition like depression or anxiety. Place2Be is the UK's leading school-based mental health charity, providing support to children, families and school-based staff when they need it most. The Place2Be becomes part of the school family and is more than just an office, therapy room or collection of counsellors. Every donation, no matter how small will help the Place2Be support our children of the future and motivate me in every step of my training in order to conquer this challenge next month.
