Story
23rd April, in celebration of my mother and sister-in-law and to mark reaching my 60th birthday cancer -free, I'll be taking on the London Marathon for Prevent Breast Cancer. My first ever marathon.
My mother is a breast cancer survivor of almost 40 years , my sister in law , Debbie , a survivor of over 17 years . Breast cancer affected their lives and that of our family greatly . I myself am at high risk of developing breast cancer but have been lucky to reach this milestone age cancer-free . I am hugely grateful for the extra support I have had from specialist breast clinics over the past two decades. Prevent Breast Cancer works closely with such clinics to be at the front -line in the fight against this disease .
Prevent Breast Cancer is the only charity in the UK dedicated to the prediction and prevention of breast cancer. Trying to stop it before it happens . They fund research, testing , and screening as well as lifestyle and self examination education, ultimately aiming to prevent future generations from ever being diagnosed.
I squealed with delight when called to run for this charity. The training will be crazy tough , but I am honoured to be fundraising in support of a world free of breast cancer .
We all know someone whose life has been torn apart by breast cancer . I ask that you donate whatever you can for them, please.
