Story
Having lived in Australia for much of my childhood, the current wildfire crisis is a topic very close to my heart. Hearing about the thousands of animals that have been killed or are suffering as a result of the recent fires has made me think long and hard about ways in which I could raise money to help.
I have always felt a deep connection to Koalas in particular and I have been researching into the work of the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital (located a few miles from where I used to live in the Gold Coast). They are currently striving to help as many affected animals as possible, however are in desperate need of donations as it costs approx £3,698 or $7,000 AUD to rescue just one koala and return it back to the wild.
In 2008, the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital rescued 27 animals, however as a result of this summers bushfires by the end of 2019 they had rescued over 500!!! That would cost a massive £1,849.000 or $3,500.00 AUD!
After ALOT of thinking I have decided that I would like to combat my fear of needles and get a tattoo of a koala, in recognition of the millions of animals that have lost their lives over the past few months. I feel this is significant because a tattoo is forever just as the Australian native animals should be! I will of course be funding the tattoo myself with 100% of the donations made to this page going directly to the Currumbin Wildlife Centre.
Any donation no matter how small can make a difference. Please help if you can! Thank you in advance for your support.
