Story
A Masjid holds a central role in the heart of a community, from a spiritual place of sanctuary to an educational institution. As per the Prophetic tradition, Muslim Charity has been assisting impoverished communities to build centres of religious worship and learning for future generations and has empowered locals to strengthen their relationship with their faith and communities. As well as supporting communities Muslim Charity has been supporting institutions, which lack a place of worship.
Approximately 4 years ago in Paradise Village, located on Lamu Island, the community with their very limited resources built the existing Masjid and Madrassa structure. The community have benefitted greatly from this Masjid, but over time the condition of the Masjid has deteriorated and can no longer accommodate the growing needs of the community. The structure of the Masjid is supported by branches of wood and sheltered by corrugated steel sheets. Due to the nature of the structure, it is in constant need of maintenance and attention. The current condition of the Masjid is dilapidated and possesses many risks and as a result, many community members now resort to offering prayers in their homes.
The Masjid and Madrassah project will construct of all the necessary amenities for the local community including:
Ground floor Mens Masjid Prayer Hall
First Floor Madrassa and Womens Prayer Hall
Minar for Masjid
Electrical Work (including lighting and fans)
Sound System
x5 Toilets (for the Masjid & Madrassa)
Ablution Area (x6 seats).
With your support, we can help support this community to construct a purpose-built Masjid and Madrassa, where they can congregate for prayer in a safe and clean environment and send their children to Madrassa to learn the Holy Quran
