Story

Hi,

Thank you for taking time to read our page and supporting the cause :)

My best friend Sophie and I are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for the MS Society on 2nd April 2023!! ! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

We want to run to support and raise awareness, because as Physiotherapists, we often see the challenges that MS (Multiple Sclerosis) can bring. In 2018, whilst we were at University, Sophie’s Mum (Sue) was diagnosed with the condition

…However, we also see how amazing charities like this one can make a positive difference to people’s lives and wellbeing!

Multiple sclerosis causes the immune system to attack/damage the myelin coating protecting the nerves in the body. This leads to a range of symptoms, including problems with mobility, balance and fatigue. Currently there is no available cure for this disease, but as a result of ongoing developments and research, there are now a wide array of disease-modifying therapies available to those with MS.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Sue for 5 years now and as Sophie explains on her own just giving page, she has not let this diagnosis, or the barriers it has tried to throw in her way, stop her or her outgoing attitude! Her determination is something to be in awe of, however of course there are days where symptoms and the mental impact of MS are massively overwhelming.

The MS Society aim to help with this and do amazing work to support people and families affected by MS. They invest in ground-breaking research, as well as providing advice and information through their MS Helpline. The charity also hold exercise and wellbeing groups across the UK, which people like Sue have found invaluable to improving physical, social and psychological experiences living with the condition.

This is why we have decided to run the Half Marathon and I would love to dedicate it mainly to Sue, but also every individual that is facing MS on a daily basis.

Please donate what you can to support our run for the MS Society, so that they can continue providing these lifechanging services, and together we can help end MS for good 🧡
