Story
hello, thanks for coming to my just giving page. I’m molly sayers, I’m 14 years old and I’m raising money for beat which is a charity that has really supported me throughout my journey which I’m going to tell you more about.
here’s just a little snippet of my story:
i have struggled with anorexia for 5 years and i still find it hard most days. at times anorexia, depression and anxiety has made me close to death. these experiences have resulted in multiple hospital admissions.
alongside the support from the NHS, beat has helped (and continues to help) my family so much. i can’t thank them enough for the wonderful service they provide.
my family, friends, animals and health professionals are my main source of support. i am animal obsessed - i have dogs, chickens, guinea pigs and chinchillas!
i am lucky enough to have great support around me but others may not. i want to raise awareness of mental illnesses and eating disorders. i want to help people not suffer in silence and stop the stigma surrounding mental health.
to raise money and awareness for Beat, I will be doing a walk & talk on monday 15th april. it will be an 8 mile walk at bickerton forest. the reason i’ve chosen to do the walk in april is that i love the spring season as it signifies new life starting and bickerton forest is a really peaceful place for me.
i have not yet finished my recovery journey and i still have some way to go. however, i’ve learnt to cope better with my difficulties with the amazing support of the people around me.
this is only a small fraction of my story; the walk & talk will give me an opportunity to explain more about my story and for people to learn more about eating disorders.
if you are interested in walking with me more details will be posted on this page closer to the time.
i hope to raise a minimum of £350 and I would really appreciate any donation big or small.
thank you so much
molly x
