Molly's Team Rowing Challenge

Team Molly Rowing Challenge · 12 March 2022
My name is Molly Parkinson, I am 21 years old and was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when I was 19 years old. Unfortunately since my diagnosis I have relapsed twice. Hodgkin’s disease (HD) is a type of lymphoma, which is a blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. Lymphomas are the most common group of cancers in teenagers and young adults. Around 1 in 5 young people diagnosed with cancer have lymphoma.
I have already undergone 3 chemotherapy regimes, 1 lot of immunotherapy, radiotherapy, 1 stem cell transplant and a planned donor stem cell transplant.
I am currently waiting to go into The Christie hospital for a donor stem cell transplant. A donor stem cell transplant is a treatment for cancers and conditions that affect the blood cells. This treatment replaces bone marrow that is no longer working properly with healthy stem cells from another person.
Before my donor transplant Lewis at CrossFit Heysham and myself have decided to do a fundraising challenge and row the circumference of the Isle of Man (99 miles/159.325km) on the 12th of March along with another 14 people. All donations will be going towards the The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) service at the Christie. This charity is very close to my heart and is where I received all of my treatment. The Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) service at The Christie provides specialist care for teenagers and young adults (16-24 years of age) with a cancer diagnosis and related illnesses.
All I ask is that, if you are in the position to do so, you donate what you can to this brilliant Charity to help the young people in desperate need of the support and aid the TYA Unit provides. Thank you in advance for your support and donations.
