**RUN UPDATE**
On Sunday 16th September 2012, I completed the Great North Run and it was an amazing experience! My finishing time was 2 hours 20 minutes (to be smashed next year!).
The run itself was a challenge, but being surrounded by 40,000+ people all running for good causes was very humbling. Every runner gets a large "I am running for..." sticker to put on their back, and, at the end of the day, every person was doing that race for someone they loved - to raise funds for a charity that helped.
The Alzheimer's team were out in force to shout and encourage their runners, but it was the little old ladies handing out orange segments and kids running along the sides of the roads that brought the biggest smiles - especially when you're digging deep and everything hurts towards the end!
I was a bit apprehensive about running on my own, but need not have worried - I felt part of something bigger as people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels took to the rainy streets of Newcastle to start the course.
I am not really a runner - I have taken up "fitness" in the past year but didn't do much before. This race has made me realise that maybe I can do more. What is the next challenge?! We will see ;))
I have been overwhelmed by the support I have had - donations to my fundraising, but also kind words and encouragement from you all. So this is to say a big THANK-YOU for being there for me and helping me get round the course. Overall we raised £666 for the Alzheimer's Society - which is brilliant!
I hope you enjoy the run photos (Ha, remember it was rainy, cold and very windy enroute!). Cheers to you all, love Molly x
