Story

I'm going to be getting my steps in through yet another lockdown for The London Irish Centre by walking 100 miles from now until St Patrick's day. I'm hoping to raise £500 for the The London Irish Walk, with 100% of the funds raised going to Irish Artists.

On a personal note, I was diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome a few months ago, a connective tissue syndrome that affects, among other things, your energy levels and causes chronic pain in your joints. One of the few types of exercise I'm able to do these days is WALKING - handy, since that's about all we can do these days.

I'm hoping to motivate myself to stay healthy and happy in what is a really challenging time for us all, while raising money for a brilliant cause - Artists. To paraphrase Una Mullally, 'when we talk about saving the Arts or the Artists, what we're really talking about is saving ourselves - from boredom, from ugliness, from a life without subtext'

Buíochas ó chroí,

Molly.

The London Irish Walk is all about supporting the London Irish Centres work with great Irish artists. Get Active and join The London Irish Walk by our community walking 50,000 miles over 50 days to raise £50,000. The London Irish Centre invites you to get active and join us on the London Irish Walk. With multiple Covid lockdowns impacting all of us, this is a great opportunity to connect, get active, improve your wellbeing, and raise funds for a great cause. 100% of the funds raised in this years walk will be used to employ and commission Irish artists to create, perform, and inspire through 2021. These funds will enable the London Irish Centre to continue to bring the very best in Irish art and culture to you. Our brilliant artistic community has been decimated by Covid-19 restrictions, and this is our chance to remind them how much we value their work.
