ABOUT MOLLIE

Our beautiful baby girl was born on 9th October 2007 and at the age of 6 weeks old was diagnosed with SMA type 1. She sadly fell asleep on 28th October 2008 aged just 12 months old. Mollie was a strong, brave, clever and incredibly happy little girl and she brought sunshine and laughter into the lives of everyone she met. Mollie is missed every second of every day.

The Jennifer Trust provided such amazing support to us when Mollie was diagnosed and they continue to support us now. They are a national UK charity dedicated to SMA. Any money you are able to donate is a help and will go into Mollie's Angel Fund set up by the Jennifer Trust.

Some Facts About SMA

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a condition that affects the nerves in an area of the spinal cord called the anterior horn. These nerve cells become damaged, breaking the link between the brain and the muscles. As a result, the muscles can't be used and become wasted or atrophied.

  • SMA is the #1 genetic killer of children under the age of 2.
  • SMA is estimated to occur in nearly 1 out of every 6,000 births.
  • The gene mutation that causes SMA is carried by 1 in every 40 people or nearly 1.5 million Britains
  • There is currently no treatment or cure

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Jennifer Trust for SMA gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
