Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. I was honoured to run London Marathon as part of Team Young Lives for 2023.
I ran the London Marathon to help children and young people (aged 0-25) and their families find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them.
The charity works hard to make sure each family has what they need to get through cancer. It could be a financial grant for a parent struggling to keep their child warm through their treatment or for a young person who can’t afford to get to hospital. Or helping a family stay together at one of their free Homes from Home close to the hospital where their child is having treatment.
And if they think families aren’t being heard by the whole system, they're not afraid to raise their voices or shout on their behalf. Children and young people with cancer deserve the same opportunities as anyone else. They'll always have their back.
For every £38 raised, you could be ensuring that a family have a bed to sleep in close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment. The Homes from Home are a slipper walk away from the hospitals and are a life line for families, helping them stay together during their child’s treatment.
Young Lives vs Cancer has already made a significant impact on people and their families this year. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk/what-we-do/our-impact/ to learn more.
- £342,643 worth of Young Lives vs Cancer Financial Hardship Grants were given out to those in need
- 881 young people and families received their new Winter Emergency Grant – worth £290,000 in total
- 5,088 grants were given to families in total to support various needs, equating to £966,000
There's still work to do and they won't ever stop.
