Story
I am one of the 40,000+ people who are lucky enough to run the 2019 London Marathon. I am sure when you read the word 'lucky' you’ll probably think I'm mad, choosing to voluntarily run 26.2 miles around London - most likely with sore toenails, blisters and cramping everywhere!! Maybe I am mad, but I've got 6 months from now to get myself marathon ready and to cross that finish line.
I am running the Marathon for a charity called SportsAid. SportsAid supports over 1,000 athletes each year, aged 12 to 18, by providing them with a financial award to help towards training and competition costs. This acts as a real motivational boost for young athletes as it is often the first recognition they receive outside of their support network. Most of them rely heavily on their parents as they have no other funding. As many of you know, I am a PE teacher in a primary school so helping young children progress in sport is what I love. This is why I want to raise as much money as I can for SportsAid, so it can help young sportsmen and women aspiring to be the country's next Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and World Champions!!
I am sure there are going to be many times when I question why I am running this marathon, it's going to be emotional and exhausting as well as amazing! It would mean a lot if you can help support this charity by donating. Any support on the day would also be greatly appreciated while I run my legs off! (28th April 2019!)....and if i collapse when I run past you, all I ask is please can you put my Garmin watch on pause!!
Thank you so much
Mollie x
