Story
We have now completed the race and happy to announce that we all have reached the finish line safely in roughly 4 hours. A really impressive time we think as most of us did it for the first time. Taking into consideration that it had rained heavily the days before race and on the race day itself, the course was much tougher that we predicted. But with teamwork and mutual encouragements we all have raced to the Finish line!
We are a team of six friends all of us originally from Moldova Republic. We decided to take upon this challenge to test ourselves and more importantly to raise awareness about the disability in more remote countries and outside EU such as Moldova. MAD-Aid, the charity we are supporting is a great family lead charity organisation located in Rascani. Their exclusively for the north of the country Phoenix centre is located in the actual city of Rascani and supports and rehabilitates more than 100 disable children that live nearby.
Help us to spread awareness and thanks for supporting our cause.
Stepping outside our comfort zone!
22 km with 30+ obstacles ... This his is one of the toughest obstacle races in our lives! Not mentioning the psychological we will be under when passing through the toughest obstacles such as electric wires shock and freezing cold water.
In Moldova, disabled children are suffering, children like Irina. Before she came to the Phoenix Centre, she spent most of her time in a wheelchair, in a tiny room with poor conditions and no contact with the outside world. It's not that her family didn't care, it's because they had no other choice. This resulted in her motor skills to use her hands and feet being completely atrophied. Now, she is always happy and keen to come to the Centre, she is pleased to breathe fresh air and be warmed by the sun.She likes to work on her hand to eye coordination and even has friends she talks to outside of the Centre by phone.Without us, she would still be confined to that tiny room, living an isolated life of misery. The Phoenix Centre gave her a chance at life, isn't that what all children deserve? What do you think?Moldova is the poorest country in Europe, which has resulted in disabled children of the country practically being invisible.
