Tate & Lyle Molasses, 3 Peaks challenge,

 13th/14th September 2008.

UPDATE

Tate & Lyle Team 5 would like to say a very big thank you to all of those who were kind enough to sponsor us for the  VSO 3 Peaks Challenge 2008.

The challenge entailed each participating team to summit and descend the 3 highest peaks in the UK. (Each team consisting of between 5 - 7 walkers plus 2 support crew / drivers).

Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, Scafell Pike in Northern England and Snowdon in Wales. The time limit was 24 hours including the driving between the mountains.

In all, this challenge required teamwork as well as mental and physical fitness as the team needed to climb a total of 3,407 meters, walk 23 miles and endure a 450 + mile drive between the peaks - all within 24 hours.

This year, there were  200 hikers competing in the event of which Tate & Lyle had 4 teams competing.

You will be glad to know that our team, Tate & Lyle Team 5, completed the challenge in 23 hours 19 Minutes which was a great achievement.

The total money raised for VSO collectively was a staggering £161,214.48, of which the 4 Tate & Lyle teams managed to raise £32,161.25

A further added bonus was that our team, team 5, won the coveted trophy award having raised the most funds for the charity - a sum of £10,253.03 - all which could not have been done without your kind support Thank you.

Many thanks for your support.

John, Chris, James,  David, Mark, Ian, Christine, Phil & Jason
