Thank you for visiting our page. We are running to make a difference to people like Jo’s husband who suffer from high cholesterol. Heart UK is a charity that supports people living with both inherited and non-inherited high cholesterol.

Stu was diagnosed nearly 5 years ago with aggressive coronary artery disease caused by inherited high cholesterol. He only found out he had a problem when he was told he had already had a heart attack and needed a double heart bypass at the age of 41. Unfortunately there is no cure for this disease at the moment, so it is really important that more is done to identify problems early to avoid the challenges that many have had to face.

Almost half of UK adults have raised cholesterol which can lead to heart disease. The funds we raise will help to raise awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol, and campaign for improved screening, identification, and treatment. They will also help to support those diagnosed with either inherited or non-inherited high cholesterol and help reduce their risk of heart disease.

Heart UK has really helped Stu to understand his diagnosis and make sure he is doing everything he can to manage his condition. They have also made sure that he is speaking to the people who are leading in research for new treatment in this area.
