Join us for a mojo injection on 10th October at 2pm on Gullane Beach. This will be a positive and fun event for all ages. You can come for the banter and cheer us on, dip your toes or dive right in. Stay in a cosy coat, wear a wetsuit, swimsuit or speedos. There are no rules here, although it would be a good idea to bring a hot flask. We will have a fire and marshmallows to toast as well as some 'shivery' bites. This is a free event but we would be grateful for any donations to the charity at the link provided. Please share and if you are planning to dip or swim, it would be great to encourage others to make a donation to spur you on. Jojo will also be doing an ice cold plunge pool in her garden every morning for the rest of 2021 to help raise awareness.
Jojo is a friend of the incredible Lisa Fleming, the founder of the charity. Lisa has been living with secondary breast cancer since 2017 and has spent the past 4 years making every second count. Jojo is also a proud patron for Make 2nds Count and a lover of cold water therapy. She will be bringing a huge mojo injection and hosting this event to help raise awareness of secondary breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October, yet there is only one day in this month (October 13th) that focuses on the awareness of secondary breast cancer, which takes so many lives. The recent passing of Sarah Harding has hit the secondary breast cancer community hard. Secondary breast cancer is breast cancer which has spread from the breast to other parts of the body. Although secondary breast cancer can be treated, there is no cure. Unlike those living with primary breast cancer, there is no end of treatment, there is no remission. It’s estimated that 35,000 people are currently living with secondary breast cancer in the UK yet only 7% of the National funding for cancer goes towards this incurable disease. Make 2nds Count aim to address this imbalance. Please donate what you can and join us in supporting this uplifting event to help us make seconds count.
