Story
Well. It's the day after the marathon and I am deighted to inform you that I completed the Blackpool Marathon. Paula Radcliffe will be pleased to know that her world record is safe, but I was delighted to complete it in under 5 hours. My official time was 4 hours 55 minutes and 21 seconds.
It was a great day. I felt very positive and motivated - amazing how having nearly three grand for Nightstop riding on it made it a bit easier. All of the horrible training and long 20+ mile runs paid off on the day, because I felt strong all the way round and towards the end, a lot of other runners were struggling and I was catching people up and believe it or not I actually overtook a few (that's NEVER happened before)
Bern and the kids were there cheering me on, which was fantastic and really motivational. Just when I was feeling a bit down, there would appear as if by magic and seeing those three smiling faces, willing me on, shouting "Go, Mum, Go" was fantastic.
The journey back to Ilkley was interesting. Bern has to stop the car several times as my body started to cramp and I slept like a log on Sunday night. Felt OK Monday morning, but by the evening the pains in my body have started to be quite hurty and my thighs don't really feel like mine........and can someone tell my pelvic floor that it belongs to me and if I stand up, it is supposed to stand up with me!
Thanks so much to all my family, friends and work colleagues and associates, who have sponsored me. I feel very lucky to know such great people. Thanks also for the letters, emails, cards and texts of support both before and after the event. I can't tell you how much they all meant to me.
You are fab!
